Book Review: Skinny B*tch

I have personally read this book twice now, and will probably read it for a third at some point in the near future. This is the infamous bestseller diet book that Victoria Beckham was snapped with (pictured below)…. The “No-nonsense, tough-love guide for savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous!” hit bookstores around the world in 2005, and was fast to be found a best seller (and a VERY controversial read).

t has been one of the most entertaining, and motivating books I have ever read. It certainly educates the reader on the process these companies go through with the food we then put in our bodies… If you feel you can NEVER go through life without meat, the book suggests what TYPES of meat and food products to steer clear of – Like product that has been pumped full of steroids and pesticides ECT. I have found it has made me more aware of what I am REALLY putting into my body. I firmly believe that what you put in, is what you get out… or to put in other terms… “YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT”.

Definitely worth looking into if healthy eating is something that interests you!

Healthy Green Smoothie Recipes

I typically drink a smoothie a day, and upon discovering “Green” smoothies, I have become literally obsessed. Fused with leafy greens such as spinach or kale, and adding fresh fruit, almond milk, and greek yogurt, I satisfy all my hunger cravings whilst maintaining a healthy and nutritious lifestyle! Also, if anybody is a fan of booster juice, I highly recommend their “Spinach is In It” flavour, especially if you are too nervous to make your first smoothie by yourself (some people are scared of the green colour!).

Below I have shared a list of Green Smoothie ideas that I am definitely trying out soon, which I found on FitSugar.

Yay for green smoothies.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Adding two bananas makes this smoothie a satisfying breakfast option, while the Fall flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon marry nicely with the gourd’s. And as always, you can’t taste the spinach — so don’t be put off by the color — but including the leafy green adds a healthy dose of many essential vitamins and minerals.

1 ice cream scoop of organic pumpkin puree (approximately 1/2 cup)
2 small- to medium-sized organic bananas (approx 3/4 cup mashed)
1 big handful of organic spinach
1 to 2 dates (based on how sweet you’d like it)
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla or plain almond milk

Three Essential People

Better Successful People Around You

A mentor once told me that no matter how many close people you have in your network, if you want to be truly great, you must have three essential people in your life at all times:

  1. A person who is older and more successful than you to learn from
  2. A person who is equal to you to exchange ideas with
  3. A person below you to coach and keep you energized
Every great person was, is, or will be successful because of the company he or she keeps. They will make an impact because of a successful network of driven peers who provide both inspiration and healthy competition.
If you want to be remarkable, you must constantly challenge yourself and surround yourself with remarkable people. So think about what your goals are, and take a look around you. Do you need to write a “make or break” list?

Do you have the kind of people who are going to lead you to live the life of your dreams?

Keeping Hydrated

Keeping healthy on the inside is what makes us GLOW on the outside! By keeping well hydrated, practicing yoga, exercising and drinking green tea it gives me the essential energy I need to complete my day. I largely credit water and green tea for providing me with all their amazing benefits!

Keeping hydrated is extremely important to me – I drink from 1.5 -2 liters of water per day, w
ater plays a key role in every bodily function, circulation, transporting nutrients and oxygen,  including digestion, and regulating your body temperature. Water also keeps you feeling full. I almost ALWAYS add lemon or lime to my water, only because I am not a huge plain water taste person, I need that extra flavor. When you don’t drink enough water your body gets dehydrated and you begin to feel weak, shaky, drained and tired.. My best advice to all people who may get up at a very early time and find it hard to wake up is to drink HEAPS of water, it wakes you up and makes you feel refreshed and ready for your day.
Green Tea
I love Green Tea – I drink decaffeinated organic green tea. It provides my body with needed antioxidants, lowers cholesteral, assists in digestion, and fights aging! Green tea assists in keeping your metabolism working at a healthy rate, provides fiber, and by having lower cholesterol, increases muscle strength, and improves energy levels! I usually consume about two cups a day, in the morning and before bed.
